Help Daniel Crush His ANXIETY...

Special Instructions...

With a Grown-Up helper, use the map below to find 7 special places. 
Together, discuss how these places help Daniel manage and overcome his ANXIETY. 

To begin:

Click on ‘View larger map’ in the left hand corner of the map below.

For each special place:

Step 1:  Click on the place with your mouse or finger.  The place name will change colour and/or a red marker will appear on the map. E.G.Marston Vale Forest SchoolSome photos of the place will appear to the left of the map.

Step 2: Tap on the ‘Street View’ button OR find the yellow man at the bottom left corner of the map and drag him next to the red marker for the place. 

Step 3: Use your mouse or your fingers to scroll around the place. Double click/tap to zoom in on the things you can see to move closer to them. Double click/tap on roads to move up and down the streets. It should feel as if you are walking or driving around the area. 

Step 4: Go back to the larger map to explore the next special place.

Fun Fact: Some areas of Wootton have pictures that show you what these places looked like before and during building work began( E.G. Explore Fields Road). For some newly build roads, the ‘Street View’ is not available. Use the ‘Satellite View’ to see these places. Double click to zoom in closer to get a better look of each place from the sky.

Places To Find...

1.Marston Vale Forest School. Daniel can manage his anxiety through exercise, fresh air and through being close to nature.

2. St Mary’s Church of England Church’. Daniel draws on his faith and says a prayer as a way to focus on all that he is thankful for. This gives him peace.

3. Use the Magic tip to find ‘Wootton Library’. Daniel reads books that help him to learn about his feelings and manage them in a positive way. The librarians also tell him about programs in the local area which are designed to promote good mental health. The quiet atmosphere of the library soothes Daniel. Reading other fun stories, also relaxes Daniel and takes his mind off his problems.

4.Wootton Vale Healthy Living Centre’. Daniel goes to the ‘Doctor’s surgery’ to check he is healthy. While he is there, he tells the doctor about his anxiety, and the doctor arranges for Daniel to get some extra support in managing his feelings.

5. Use the Magic tip to find ‘Wootton Pharmacy’. When Daniel is feeling unwell, he asks the Pharmacist which medicines might help him to feel better. Daniel feels stronger mentally, when he is strong physically.

6.Wootton Lower School’Daniel loves going to school. He can talk to his teachers and friends about his worries and this helps him to feel better. Daniel loves ‘Golden Meditation Time’ at school. After lunch time, his teacher puts on soft music before he starts his learning. Daniel closes his eyes and is taken to a peaceful place. His imagination soars and his mind is filled with wonderful places and stories. Daniel uses this strategy at home, whenever worries start to creep in.

7. ‘Play Areas’– Use the ‘Satellite View’. Zoom in closer and click on the ‘Play park’ icons to see aerial photos of the area. How many play areas can you find in Wootton? Daniel loves playing with his friends on the playground equipment. Exercise and friends definitely help Daniel to overcome his anxious thoughts.
